Substitutes Needed
Western is in need of substitute teachers and support staff.  If you or someone you know would like to serve in this capacity, please follow these instructions:

Lego Club
Parma is hosting a Lego Club for students in grades 3, 4, & 5. It starts this Thursday, Feb. 11th and runs until 4:30pm. All students must be picked up by 4:30 from the Library. Please click here to register your student for this Club. 
Yearbooks

Southwest Little League

Tennis Program
If your student is interested in Tennis, please click here to view the flyer for an upcoming clinic sponsored by the Western Girls Tennis Team. It runs for 2 weeks, Feb. 20th & 27th. 
Gym Shoes
Please make sure you child has gym shoes on days their class has PE. Many students are wearing their winter boots for PE and having trouble participating and slipping in they gym.

Valentine Classroom Parties
Classroom Parties will be held on Friday, Feb. 12th. Please check classroom newsletters for details, as times may vary for each class.
Girl Scouts Round up
Anyone interested in Girl Scouts, please plan to attend a meeting at the Warner Elem. cafeteria on Wednesday, Feb. 10th from 5:30pm-6:00pm.  It is a Parent Round Up for all families interested in joining Girl Scouts. It will be an informational meeting to get troops started and to place girls into already established troops. 

 
Spring Pictures
Lifetouch will be at Parma on Wednesday, Feb. 17th to photograph students for Spring Pictures. 
LOCK IN
Mark your calendars for Friday, Feb. 19th.... We will be hosting another LOCK IN from 3:35pm-6:30pm. Because this event takes place right after school, all forms are due no later that Friday, Feb. 19th at noon. The cost is $10.00 and there will be pizza, snacks and drinks to purchase for $1.00 each. Hearing and Vision
The Jackson County Health Dept will be at Parma on Feb. 16th & 17th to check the hearing for students in grades K, 2, & 4. Vision testing will take place for students in grades 1, 3, & 5 on Feb. 17th & 18th. 
Daddy Daughter Dance
Flyers are coming home today, Friday, Jan. 22nd for the Daddy Daughter Dance. The theme this year is Enchantment Under the Sea, and it will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20th at Western High School. The cost is $ 22.00 for 1 adult and 1 child and $ 11.00 for each additional daughter. Please make checks payable to Western School District and the form must be returned by Friday, Feb. 12th. Western Youth Baseball and Softball
Please click here to view the flyer for the Western Youth Baseball and Softball League. Registration is now open and must be completed by Feb. 10th to avoid a late fee. There are leagues available for children ages 5-14.
2016 Lady Cougar Softball Clinic
Please click here to view a flyer for the Lady Cougar Softball Clinic, that takes place on Feb. 13 for ages 13-18, or Feb. 20 for ages 7-12. Each camper will receive a T-shirt and personalized instruction from the staff. Through specialized stations, the clinic will focus on the development of individual play fundamentals, as well as team concepts.  The cost is $40 and it is held at the SAU Gymnasium.
School Store
The school store will be open every Thursday morning before school starts. Items range from $0.05 up to $10.00 for the braided necklaces. Items include pencils, erasers, folders, and other school related items. We have many new items for purchase this week, locker buddies, clip on critters.
Reminders from the office:
Please notify the office by 3:00pm of any after school changes for your students. That way we have plenty of time to get the message to your student.

Volunteer Constent Form
Chaperones and Volunteers: All chaperones and regular classroom volunteers must 
complete a Volunteer Consent Form before they are allowed to accompany or work with
Western School District our students. These forms are available through your building secretary. Please plan ahead! Please fill out the attached form and turn it into the office.

Early Release
Early Release Wednesday- Every Wednesday starting Sept. 16th through June 1st, school will dismiss at 2:35pm. 
Scrip Program
The Parma PTA recently started a new program which will help make the money you already spend at your favorite stores, work to benefit your child's school. It is called Scrip. It works by, purchasing gift cards to the participating stores, from the PTA on Tuesday's from 3:00pm-4:00pm or online. Then they company gives the PTA a percentage of all gift cards purchased and you get the full amount of the gift card to purchase item from that retailer.
